About the cigarette

TOBACCO
The main component of a cigarette is tobacco. There are different types of tobacco: virginia, burley, oriental and black. The mixtures that are made between these give rise to dissimilar types of cigarettes covering a wide range of aromas, tastes and flavors.

Cuba is widely recognized in the world for the excellence of the black tobacco that is grown in the Vuelta Abajo region and that gives rise to the famous Habanos, this tobacco is also the main raw material of the cigarettes made by BRASCUBA .

INGREDIENTS

In the manufacturing process of the tobacco strand that will be introduced into the cigarette, so-called ingredients are added, which are usually food or chemical substances that have a specific function in the finished product, either to balance the natural flavor of the tobacco after the curing process or to give each brand its distinctive character in terms of flavor and aroma. In many countries, resolutions have been issued to limit the use of these ingredients, most of the cigarettes made by Brascuba do not contain any additive or ingredient, the flavor is guaranteed by the quality and strength of the most authentic Cuban black tobacco.

In addition to tobacco and ingredients, other components are involved in the cigarette manufacturing process, such as: paper, filter, adhesive and ink.

CIGARETTE COMPONENTS

Another element are the so-called components of smoke, which is what is produced through the combustion of the product, thousands of chemical substances that are generated in the form of gases or particles. Among these we can point out nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide.

  • Nicotine
Nicotine exists naturally in the tobacco plant (in a higher proportion than in the rest of the plants) and is a component of tobacco smoke. Public health authorities maintain that nicotine is responsible for the difficulty some people experience in quitting smoking.
  • Tar
Tar is a complex mixture of substances, contained in tobacco and can be obtained in the laboratory with the help of filters and after removing the water vapor and nicotine from cigarette smoke. Certain components in tar have been identified by health authorities as causing health risks from smoking, such as cancer.
  • Carbon monoxide
Also with combustion, carbon monoxide is produced, which is a gas formed when organic substances burn. Health authorities have associated carbon monoxide with the risks associated with heart disease as a result of smoking.
